Reindeer dog Finnish Lapphund in Lapland, Finland
This dog photographed in Pello, is a Finnish Lapphund (or Finnish Lapponian Dog). In Finnish: suomenlapinkoira. Finnish Lapphund is a hardy, easy going, medium-size breed of Spitz type. Traditionally it has been used for herding reindeer in Northern Finland. Although it is one of the most popular dog breeds in Finland, it is not very numerous outside of the Nordic countries. Pello, an Arctic Circle destination, in Lapland is well-known throughout Finland as a particularly dog-friendly municipality. This Finnish Lapphund is photographed in Reindeer Lake Resort reindeer farm in Pello. In Rovaniemi and in Lapland in general there are many reindeer farms that travelers can visit.
